Been fans of these guys since following their food truck at Gastropark. My wife and I recently grabbed dinner from their Cromwell location and was blown away. The prices can add up but its definitely worth it depending on what you get. Im a big fan of their speciality tacos, but the chopped cheese torta special was for sure a memorable experience. The bread was toasted perfectly and the toppings were stacked. Depending on the ingredients, some of tacos can become a little soggy. But overall, I would recommend Hot street taco to anyone who wants a unique taco dining experience.

Great local Taco / Mexican dishes. As their Tag Line says, Tacos without Tradition, their Taco options are great. I had the Smash Burger Taco 4oz smashed burger, shrettuce, fried onion, American Cheese and house "animal" sauce - very good, tantalizing favors. Next, i had the Crispy Fish Taco, tempura battered haddock, pine apple salsa, picked red cabbage, and chipotle aioli. It was as tasty as it sounds. Food truck availability and loved the crowd, paintings and casual seating options.

Upon walking in we saw the person who takes the orders, the menu was on a tv behind her or on a piece of paper in front of the register. We had to ask how we do this, as there is no table service. The only beverages they offer are Foxon Park sodas in bottles and water in bottles. There are strips of high chairs around two separate bar areas and one sofa to sit on. Scene set.

Two tacos, Birria Ramen, Street corn, 1 bottle of water and one soda came to over $50. At that price point my expectations are higher. With that said Hot Taco's tacos disappointed while the Birria Ramen and Street Corn were good.

The flavor of the carnitas meat was bland and almost tasteless. The flavor of the Korean beef meat was very good, however they went too heavy on the cilantro slaw and it made the entire taco watery and caused the tortilla to lose all structural integrity.

The tortillas used for both tacos were flour tortillas, they were cracking from being overheated, lacked the flavor of most flour tortillas, and were straight out of a package. Just disappointing.

The Birria Ramen was good, cheese with consomme, braised meat, and more cheese....mine did not have any cilantro or onion stated in description of item on menu. For $14 it was pricey. Some may find the salt level of this to be too much, but cheese and salty consomme with the some braised meat did hit the spot on a cold late fall night.

The street corn was solid in flavor but the corn was extra chewy, don't know what that is about but it was chewy.

Overall, I won't be back. It has a menu that sounds good and uses a lot of ingredients that their Target Market will like to hear. But, at $7 a taco there needs to be more focus on the detail. Maybe it was just a bad night or too close to their very early close time of 8pm (really, 8pm?). If I want tacos I believe the tortilla used is just as important as the inside ingredients....and if I want ramen.....there are better places.

When I say our taste buds died and went to heaven at Hot Taco, I mean it!! First of all, let me just say how impressed I am by their tacos. I recently went somewhere that charged the same price as here for a single taco, and the other place’s tacos were so skimpy. Hot Taco’s are EXACTLY what I’m looking for - you could barely even fold the taco in half because there was so much inside! The menu is creative, and the street food flare is so cool. I absolutely loved the Mac and cheese, which sounded like it was going to be spicy, but actually was just so flavorful. The Brussels were amazing too, and I think it’s awesome that they have California style burritos, because those aren’t easy to find around here! The flavor of the month rotation for their churros is so fun, and I know they’ll continue to add creative options onto this menu. For only a month open in their brick and mortar location, and having it be primarily takeout, we were impressed at how busy they were for a Wednesday night! The food came out quickly, and everyone was so nice here. I’m so happy for them and wish them continued success!

I ordered the Korean, Chicken BLT, Burger tacos and the burrito. The food was very good, meat portions just right and the portion of beef in the burrito justified the 16.00 price. Consider having weekly specials at a lower price point. I’ll be back, perhaps not as often as I would like due to price. Very, very good food!
