A very nice restaurant, excellent service, high quality food

Found a new restaurant that’s welcoming and very friendly. Followed by excellent service, with a lot of attention to you and the details of your order.

With that being said I have worked my way thru their menu and have been very pleased with everything I’ve ordered. It’s all fresh, made to order with large portions. Also, all the desserts are made on sight which I have tried again and again.

It’s nice to have found a restaurant like this.

If you have the opportunity to go eat there, do not hesitate!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!

Amazing new lunch spot! The chicken is spot on, juicy and tender. The chicken BLT is huge and full of flavor.

After 10 years working at my Dad's bakery & 20 years in the restaurant business, I am passionate about food. Funcles is awesome! Love the chicken & waffles, chicken sandwich, scones & chocolate chip cookies! Can't wait to go back and try one of the fabulous looking salads!

Okay, so I just enjoyed the best biscuits and gravy on the eastern seaboard at Funkle's Cafe at 3584 Whitney Ave. in Hamden. Here's why you should trust me that this is fact and not opinion. 1.) I'm fat. That's right, I didn't get this physique by eating salad and I know great food when I taste it. 2.) Having been in the restaurant industry over 20 years you could say I am passionate about food, and I have a proven track record of NEVER steering anyone wrong when it comes to flavor, texture, ingredients, freshness, presentation and appetite satisfaction. And 3.) I'm originally from the pacific northwest where biscuits and gravy are a staple breakfast item, unlike New England where it is difficult to come by and more often than not from a pouch and pretty lousy. These were made from scratch and made to order, so they were nothing but fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. If their biscuits and gravy are this good, I can't wait to try their other offerings.
