“A small, intensely local joint that knows how to work their steamer. Central Connecticut is known for their steamed cheeseburger oddity, but American Steamed has branched out to a variety of different steamed sandwiches to cater to a variety of tastes. I had their double steamed cheeseburger with their cheese and spicy mustard. The protein was juicy and full of flavor, despite it being medium well from the cooking process. They also provide a healthy serving of cheese (which is a bit saltier and sharper than other steamed hamburger mainstays) that locked in the juice and the flavor. There are a few options for kaiser rolls that help soak in the flavor from the burger and copious amounts of cheese which were appreciated. brought three friends from out of state and all of them agreed that it was the best cheeseburger they've ever had. What was surprising was the sheer amount of local sodas they had available. Foxon Park and others were represented. (Even my favorite, white birch beer.) Not Ally, I wouldn't be excited about soda, bit they even had classic Surge in their cooler. A great addition to the town, for sure. I just wish they were closer to me and hat a bit more dining space. Otherwise, the service was fantastic and I hope to get back there again soon.”

“I’m not sure words can quite describe how amazing this food is, but I’ll give it a shot. Arles and Boggs has truly accomplished something wonderful here. Not only is the menu chock full of tantalizing vegan options, like nachos, fried rice, spring rolls, and more. But you can almost feel the love that Sarah, Sonia, and Sam have poured into this restaurant. And to get back to the food - the food is, honestly, phenomenal. I live over two hours away in New York City, and I would gladly spend the time to drive back to this place to eat more. The impressive focus on cleanliness that this restaurant proudly displays is also an added bonus. In fact, as soon as you walk in, you can get a peak of the immaculate kitchen where all the delicious food is prepared. And lastly, I would not feel like this review is complete without mentioning the Hummingbird cake. Hands down, it is the best vegan indulgence on this planet. I highly recommend this hidden vegan gem!”

“Whoever makes the food needs to put more care and effort. When ever I get a sandwich it's usually something no egg, no butter, one piece of bacon or 1 slices cut in half with half a piece of cheese on two different sides of bagel with no butter. The best time to go get coffee is in the morning very cheerful girls who make your experience great here. Sandwiches just need to be made better and right.
