The food itself was really good, however the service was not the best. Our waitress kept disappearing and did not check on us. We had to flag her down when we did see her walking by to ask for drink refills while waiting for our food or if we needed anything.
We love it here. The atmosphere is nice, in the evenings they have a live music where three gentlemen walk around the restaurant singing and playing their guitars. Very nice. The food that we've ordered has always been very good. The staff are on point with their service. They have generous parking right in front of the restaurant. Handicap parking is available as well.
I've been going to the La Tonalteca restaurants in the area for well over a decade with friends and family and the food has always been excellent. Over the years, my family and I have even come to know some of the servers well.
I went to the Christiana location to celebrate with some friends last night. Even though the place was pretty busy as it was a Friday night, we never experienced any delay in service. Not only was our assigned server attentive, I think we had at least three other employees (I think one may have been a manager) check on our table multiple times -- great service!
I had the enchiladas supreme (which I always have customized by requesting mole poblano sauce) and a tall Dos XX Amber with fried ice cream for dessert.
The only reason why I took away one star from my review based on my experience last night was because my dish was not as hot as I would like. It was probably a step above lukewarm. I can say I honestly don't remember ever having that happen before at any of the locations. It wasn't cold enough to merit sending it back but it was definitely a most unusual occurrence. Everyone else seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal.
Overall -- great food, excellent timely and friendly service, and good atmosphere. Always a great choice for authentic Mexican cuisine in Delaware.
I visited this place one time with a co-worker. The atmosphere is very open and welcoming. The decor is really nice. Parking wasn't an issue although I could see the potential for it being a problem. The food was very good, delicious even.
My only issue was the service. After our food was brought out, the server(s) seemed to have forgotten about us. My coworker simply wanted limes for his tacos but the available server(s) were either unavailable or not paying attention to us. I was a little disappointed because the restaurant wasn't really crowded. There was a decent amount of people eating but I'm not sure if they had the same dining experience as me and my co-worker.
As great as the food was, the poor service overshadowed it.....
Overall, I might chalk it up to a fluke situation. I would go back again simply because the food and atmosphere was so good. If the service is better, I'll write a more favorable review. If the service is the same, I'll leave this review as is.
I don't want to discourage anyone from eating here because the food was so good. Like I said before, perhaps it was a fluke.
