The owner was very pleasant on the phone & in-person when ordering & picking up the food. We ordered off of the lunch menu (pulled pork with coleslaw and fried chicken with mac-n-cheese). It came to a total of $18. Food was fresh, hot & delicious. Meat was tender & the sides were a good portion. The mac-n-cheese needs to be more cheesy & “gooey” imo. The cornbread muffin was perfect. The wait time was a reasonable 25 minutes & it was ready on time. Presentation of restaurant was very clean & good energy. The owners & their children were very kind & professional.

Stopped in for the first time. I had the Brisket cheese steak. It was very tasty with plenty of flavor and a good amount of meat and cheese. The service is fast and friendly. If you’re in the Newark area definitely give the a try.

What an absolute gem. I truly enjoyed my meal. The owners are a beautiful couple who've opened this location about a month ago.

I tried most of the sides, since I'm pescetarian. And couldn't try the barbecue meat items. Now I did ask the customers, who were returning. And the brisket appeared to be a popular item.

I ordered the Mac and Cheese, Red beans and rice, Fries and cornbread. The Mac and cheese was absolutely phenomenal. It was fresh and baked. It was made with care. The beans and rice were great, it was a tomato base and gave elements to a Cajun style. The cornbread was delicious, moist and very flavourful. The fries were essentially fries, wasn't anything 'spectacular' but good portion.

I would like to preface, this place is fast-casual and your food is made to order. Make sure you call prior or if dining-in anticipate at least 16-20min wait. They're gaining some traction. Everytime I drive by their restaurant is filled with customers. The staff is absolutely wonderful and friendly. Come out and support this balck-owned family business.

First time here. Very friendly service, nice music playing.

    Corn bread was awesome.
My son loved the homemade Mac and cheese (seemed homemade!)
I had the chess steak brisket and it was awesome. Very tender beef.
Cheese fries were crinkle cut with cheese sauce like grottos pizza. (just had grottos last week)

I also ordered the fried chicken lunch special. This was not so good. My chicken leg and thigh was huge and undercooked. Way bigger than in the other Pic someone else shared. My opinion with Dark meat is that it should be cooked to an internal temp of 180 as opposed to white meat at 165.

I will definitely return but not for chicken. I don't like big chicken! I will hopefully try the ribs next.
