The Shanty Seafood restaurant and retail

I'm so excited that Shanty Seafood Restaurant is so close to home!! I just discovered them recently 😍 Today we ordered a large bushel of steamed corn and steamed colossal shrimp to go with food for a family gathering. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS 😋 Can't wait to return and try out more items on their menu👌

Before I comment about the food I’d like to first leave a compliment about the excellent customer service the Shanty Seafood provides. They are always so friendly on the phone and in person! That’s a big deal for me! We know each other by first name and there’s nothing better than having a personal relationship. The crabs and shrimp are always perfect and they always know what we personally like to order. I love, love, love, the Shanty Seaford!

Shanty is owned by a 5th generation waterman from Smith Island and anyone that knows Eastern Shore hard, soft and crab cakes doesnt need to know much more about the quality of the crabs you are about to eat here! They source their own crabs and use family recipes that make this not only a great-tasting experience but unique. I ordered the crab cake and one-pound of steamed shrimp special and two dozen hard crabs to go and it was all amazing. I thought I had every crab cake possible but their 200 year-old Smith family recipe was fantastic and unlike anything I have ever had - yes I asked the owner what was in it and there was no way he was giving up the secret. Really great and worth the money. I recommend you stop by here before you make it to the shore as I paid 2/3rds the price for high quality large crabs that were freshly caught the same day. Gotta try the soft-shells next time I am there. Door #3 in the larger market.

We have ordered crabs from the Shanty almost every week this summer. The sizing can be a little smaller than you would expect but after trying crabs from other places, we keep coming back. These are the sweetest, most delicious crabs I've ever had! They have great combos if you want more than just crabs and the staff are so friendly. When we get a 1/2 bushel we can't even close the box it is packed so full!! Highly recommend them!
