It's been a minute since I've been here but I love the Monocle. Food is awesome
Yes dated but who cares when its prepared well. The service is great. Very friendly. Attentive but not pesty.
A nice place for lunch, obviously a popular stop for politicians for it's location alone. They make a nice burger and the crab-cake was quite good. The service was very nice, prompt and friendly. The ambiance was that of a place to see and be seen with the walls covered with photos of former patrons.
My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful lunch today. We enjoyed a chance meeting with the honorable senator from Maine beforehand. Attentive and yet unobtrusive service, perfectly cooked steak and rich cheesecake.
A unique Washington restaurant. Located just steps away from the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress. Good food and service. Great desserts. Parking is limited.
Interesting place- seems like it has a good deal of history to it, walls are covered with politicians photos throughout the ages.
Where it could improve: play into the historical element, including stories from over the years or have waitstaff well versed in the history. Also, the food was all quality- but nothing exciting. Nothing unique. One of these elements (theme, cuisine) needs to be enriched to provide a more compelling visit.
