Cafe Berlin

My favorite German restaurant in DC. The four German salads appetizer is excellent. Also recommend the goulash.

Asked by friends to join them for dinner as they had been here before. I looked at the menu before we went. Saw a few things I thought I'd like. Had reservations so we were seated right away and the hostess that took us to our table could not have been any nicer! If only the experience would have stayed that way. Our waitress came to take our drink orders as we were talking about which beer or wine to get and instead of being helpful and recommending drinks, she walked away. Didn't say a word just went to another table. We didn't see her again for 10 minutes! When she finally did come back we ordered drinks and our food for fear she wouldn't come back for another 10 minutes. Our food came out and we all agreed it was good but nothing to keep us coming back. I most definitely enjoyed the German version of cheese cake for dessert...it was very good!

Cafe Berlin is the most authentic German restaurant in the DC area. Even my dad, who is a professionally-trained German chef, raves about how good the food is, saying it reminds him of eating in his hometown. The waiter humored my attempts at ordering in German, while having a full conversation with my father. The food is authentic and delicious, the beer is directly from the source, and the atmosphere is a delight.

Great place! My boyfriend is German and I have been in Germany several times, food is very authentic and delicious. Staff is friendly. Highly recommend!

Cafe Berlin is WONDERFUL, no exaggeration. We sat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation and the bar tender was super nice and accommodating. The beer selection was excellent, a good variety of German beers, and the food was exceptional. They were very flexible with the menu and the prices were beyond reasonable. I'll definitely be back again and I wish I could give more than 5 stars!
