Duke's Grocery is one of my favorite spots in Washington DC. I've been here for both brunch and dinner on several different occasions. The waiters always give spot on suggestions but the favorite and well known go to is the Proper/Brunchie Burger served either rare or well done. Rare is the way to go as I think it compliments the flavor of DC's favorite burger. Other star dishes are their truffle mac 'n' cheese, Vietnamese fried egg, french fries, and Nutella waffle. Keep in mind that their 3 locations may offer different dishes.

Stopped in for a brunch when in the area and it was a great decision! Got to sit outside and we were seated quickly. The breakfast Sammie was delicious and the lemonade is very good - fresh squeezed and bubbly.

Excellent drinks, sandwiches, and burger. The craft cocktail menu is also long and creative. The food menu is limited to appetizers, sandwiches, and a burger (which was very good). However, each sandwich is creative and prepared very well—good portions too. My breaded-chicken cubano was delicious.

We also ordered the mac&cheese which I recommend highly. Comes in a cast iron with a very nice crust. Also nice hint of truffle.

Only complaint is a lack of fries on the menu. Seems strange and lacking from a place that does sandwiches and a burger.

The burger was really good! But I think a bit over hyped in the reviews. The Mac and cheese however was amazing the the other app we good was also very very good.

    Overall a very nice experience!

we went to the location in Dupont (the original?). it's a very cozy establishment (read tiny) but that's par for the course these days. it was crowded and there was a wait for a table for 2 when we arrived but there was space at the upstairs bar fortunately. so we made our way up and enjoyed our meal. my friend ordered the Proper Burger. he liked though he ordered it medium and it was pretty close to well done. I'd had Proper Burger at Nats Park which I really enjoyed so I tried something different. I ordered the short rib baguette. the short rib was flavorful and very tender. the spicy slaw could have been a tad spicier but it was still delicious. we were not sold on the pies though. my friend had coconut pie which looked dry... and he confirmed as much. I had the blueberry lemon pie and it was way too sweet.

aside from the food, the service was friendly and quick. I definitely recommend giving them a try
