Customer service is out of this world- they really went all out to make my order just right. I’ve also never had such a delicious gluten free pizza- it some how had a perfect crust that was crunchy in all of the right places and doughy-like in all of the right places. Will definitely be back soon, it’s my new favorite pizza place!
I wish I could give this location a higher review. The first time we ordered takeout, everything was terrific. My husband and I split the Big Ang, shredded sprouts, and Zia fries- all were fantastic. The crust was crisp and soft, the toppings were delicious, and the banana peppers did an excellent job at providing a bit of acidity and brightness to balance the richness of the pizza. And I mean, who doesn’t love a good cheese fry? A+ even being takeout.
Our second and most recent experience left a lot to be desired. This time around, I ordered the Vodka pizza, my husband ordered the Le Burger pizza, and we again ordered the Zia fries. My husband's pizza was just okay- nothing wrong with it, just nothing spectacular. I told him he should have gone with the Le Big Matt! The fries lacked toppings, and some of the fries were undercooked and hard. My pizza was the biggest disappointment. It looked wonderful, and we went ahead and followed the reheat instructions to make sure it was good and hot. I took a bite and was met with soggy, tacky, raw dough. The only edible part was just around the perimeter. I tried to recook it at a low temp with foil, but I ended up giving up as it wasn’t going how I hoped it would. The pizza was utterly inedible. I hate throwing out food, but there was no saving it.
In a city with no pizza identity and very few good spots, Emmy Squared is a beacon of hope. Seriously, their Detroit style pizza is iconic and everything else on the menu slaps. Their hot chicken is amazing and the wedge salad they make with said hot chicken is jaw dropping. I love this place. The burger is fantastic as well. As far as the specific pizzas go, I’ve probably had half of them now and you can’t go wrong, but the Big Ang is a good place to start. Last but not least, they have great wings!!! Unlike most places in DC, you actually get a big serving for a reasonable price and they are fire!
The burger is phenomenal. The best I’ve had. And I eat a lot of $25 burgers. Truly a star. I’ll be. Back for that alone. The pizza is unique and high quality, but to me, the burger is why I will be ordering again.
