Recently ordered a takeout dinner for my husband and my weekly date night, and the food was outstanding! The customer service, though our exchange at pickup was brief, was also top notch. We appreciated the instructions on the food to heat up in the oven so we didn’t have to eat it immediately if we wanted to wait. The star of the meal was the Brussels sprouts, but everything tasted high quality and satisfying. Happy to have this new place in the mix; we will be back!

If you're like me, I find neo-American restaurants hit or miss. Some took decent food, but nothing to write home about. Others create innovative masterpieces that keep you coming back. The Duck and the Peach is the latter. Located in the heart of Eastern Market, they opened during the pandemic selling pick-up dinners out of a beautifully designed space. Here's what you need to know:

    1) Food: It's quality. To feed four of us, we ordered the roasted cauliflower and red wine braised short ribs. Each comes with three sides. Both main dishes were excellent, but the short ribs was the winner. It's so delicate and full of flavor. It melts in your mouth.

They have five different sides and you can't go wrong. The winners were the brussels sprouts (the best we've ever had), polenta, salad and harissa carrots. The duck fat roasted potatoes were good, but not as good as the other sides. The olive oil cake was an excellent way to end the meal.

When you order it for pick-up, it comes with heating instructions making the meal taste like it just came out of the restaurant kitchen.

    2) Service: It was very easy to order food online and the staff were efficient and friendly when we picked it up. They even gifted us a bottle of sweet sparkling red wine!

    3) Space: It's beautifully designed and very inviting. It will be an excellent place to dine post-pandemic.

The only thing to note is it's more expensive than other options in the area, but worth every penny for really good food.

Incredible food! We got their take out lamb dinner for 4 and it was delicious. They also threw a few desserts for us and the cookies were absolutely to die for!
