First time having Egyptian food and it did not disappoint and the owner is a very nice individual. I hope he keeps pursuing his desire to bring this food to the streets of DC.
I’ve never had Koshary before. I wanted to try it on a recent trip to the Middle East but I wasn’t able to make it to the restaurant I picked out so when I got back to DC I was determined to find a place that serves it. So glad I found this place. The dish is so delicious and the flavor and texture combination is addicting. I am already planning to go back next weekend. I love that it’s vegan too but feels substantial enough to keep you full. Inshallah they open a brick & mortar at some point so I can have it more often. I also got the hibiscus drink which was somewhat similar to how they make it in Mexico. Highly recommend with the Koshary it goes well.
I’ve had the best Koshary in Egypt (Abu Tareq in Cairo!) and this is right up there with it. If you want to travel to Cairo in town - eat Yalla Koshary! Amazing meal, exactly how it is in Egypt. 10/10.
Delicious, accessible, and filling! Thankful that Yalla's owner Mostafa was able to figure out the magic formula to bring authentic koshary to the DMV. So happy to know that now this Egyptian staple is right at our fingertips!
This is the best Koshary you’ll ever eat. The ultimate comfort food. You’ll be dreaming about it for months. AND it’s made by the most charismatic, funny, and sweet Egyptian. 20/10 would recommend. It’s also vegan!
