My seven-year-old son wanted to try frog legs and alligator. Okay, fair enough, off to The Yearling we go for lunch.

We walked in to the wonderful sound of Willie Green playing blues. I had heard that the restaurant has a pretty glowing rating, and this was a great start.

Service here is all around extraordinarily gracious. We ordered the special with frog legs, catfish, and gator bites. As if that wasn't enough food, I also ordered the Old Boss burger. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the portions are certainly ample... Nobody is going hungry.

For lack of a better description, the restaurant looks and feels like it should, and is very comfortable. The Yearling is not a fussy place, but it's plenty clear that everyone here pays attention to the details that actually matter.

What a great very rustic country restaurant! Food is awesome, staff and service is spot on. You don't leave hungry and the best part is listening to Willie Green sing and play the blues.

Such a fun place to go eat! It is family friendly, with an awesome atmosphere. My kids enjoyed seeing all the animals. The food was top-notch. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area again and have already recommend this place to friends.

Excellent food, welcoming staff, true old Florida atmosphere. Willie plays the blues like a master. Great acoustic guitar duo in the lounge. Also stayed the night in one of the cabins which was perfect. Cross Creek is so peaceful. This place is a beautiful hidden jewel.
