The food is excellent A+. It feels like you're eating Soul Food from somewhere in the country rather than a big city where it's located in Ft Lauderdale. What I mean by this is imagine if you ate soul food in Alabama what that would taste like. That's what this food taste like. Real SoulFood!!! and they give you big portions as well.
Betty's has been in my neighborhood since I can remember! I grew up on this soul food! Best customer service, down to earth, can feel the love the minute you walk in the front door, just makes you feel right at home! The first thing you hear is "Good morning baby what would you like to eat!" Nothing like fast food at all everything prepared from scratch. Priced just right, with a great tune from the jukebox if you like, and the wait is not that long! Did I forget to mention that Ms. Betty herself also helps to work hard to maintain her business at the frontline as well? Such a great pillar to the community! If you're just visiting from out of town or just want a taste for some soul food rather it be breakfast or some southern greens stop over to Betty's and grab a plate!????????????
Soul food the way it's supposed to be. Not commercial or watered down. Food brings you back to a time where families sat down together. Great for after church.
The location is a bit iffy but if you have some "flavor" to yourself you will be alright. We tried the smothered chicken with macaroni and cheese collard greens and oxtails with macaroni and cheese and Lima beans. The macaroni and cheese and the collard greens were the best part of the meal. Betty has some very very very good homemade cakes. The pound cake is the best I have had in any restaurant. It tastes like something grandma makes occasionally, but you have to beg her to make it for you and when she does you don't want to share. They also have a lemon cream cake that is to die for. I go back for the desserts and the Mac and cheese all the time.
