The garlic bread "knots" are phenomenal, as is the pizza. We had lasagna & chick parmigiana which were like mama's & enough to take home for lunch (like mama's). Service is excellent & treat you like family, came back multiple times to check on us. A different server started us because our server was busy at the moment, she pitched in to help so we didn't wait. When it is packed with customers it feels like Sunday dinner at Nana's. The atmosphere is very olde world & clean. The outside sitting area resembles zia's yard, pleasantly packed with potted plants. We have been delighted every time.
Being new to the area we have been trying various locally owned family restaurants and have noticed Nicola's is always busy. We arrived on Friday evening expecting a moderate wait time but were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. The service was very good and the food was delicious. Dinner came with a small salad with very tasty balsamic dressing with garlic bread squares on the side. We are looking forward to trying their pizza and will definitely be going back.
Only issues, parking is cramped and the overflow lot is not paved and a bit of a mess with all the recent rains, don't let that stop you from enjoying the food.
Got take out... It was fabulous! Very busy place so u need to be patient. Worth taking the time.
The sauce is great and all dishes were really good! Will be going back again and again. Sooner or later we will even get a table, but there is almost always some wait even in off season. Means they're doing something right...
I have been dining in and getting take out here for almost 20 years. I have never been disappointed. And I fondly remember back in the day when Nick would come and sit down with you to see how your meal was. This is THE BEST Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I recommend Nicola's to everyone I know (and even some people I don't know????)
The best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in a long time! There was a wait of 20 minutes or so, but the outdoor waiting area with seating was pleasant enough. Would have been nicer if drinks were served on the patio for diners waiting for tables. We started with the Calamari appetizer which was cooked perfectly and served with a very tasty and chunky marinara sauce. I then had an amazing Veal Parmigiana which included tons of cheese, sauce, and an extremely large cutlet of veal. Just perfect. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly, as was the hostess that greeted us when we arrived. Next time I hope to try their homemade carbonara but there were so many other wonderful dishes on the menu I'll have a hard time deciding. My only complaint is this is a wine/beer place only - no full bar.
