Everyone was really nice but the food was just ok. I was excited to try the griot but it was really dry and I couldn’t finish it. Not sure if I’m going to come back.

This is a Haitian grocery store and hot food market. They also sell smoothies, juice and coffee. The grocery store was stocked with a few pantry staples for Haitian cuisine. It seemed to be priced pretty fair. The food was ok. It could have used more seasoning and flavor for my tastes but it was ok. We ordered griot plate and chicken combo with no rice with 2 patties. We thought we would be receiving the pastry patties but we got extra plantain patties. You get a fair amount of food for the money. The chicken combo came with 3 small leg quarters.
The griot plate came with diri djon djon black rice and while it was good, it needed more spices and a sauce. The griot didn't come with any sauce. The pikliz was very good. Nice and spicy. The lady at the counter was very nice. I waited approximately 35 minutes for my order. She thanked me for my patience and said everything is cooked fresh. I didn't mind considering everything was served hot. I'm sure if they make a few small changes they can definitely become a local favorite. I will give them another shot and try their smoothies

Food was excellent but there was barely any meat in the legumes. Felt like I was eating vegan legumes.
