Shut Em Down Authentic Southern Restaurant

Their food is fresh, homemade and really delicious! I highly recommend their fried chicken since it's the best I've ever had. Their restaurant is clean and welcoming and their prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a very well run restaurant!

However, I do not recommend the BBQ chicken. It's baked and the skin is soggy and a horrible taste and texture. They should only brush the sauce on and let it carmelize instead of dousing it with sauce to where the skin is wet and soggy.

I do wish they had more than one line for placing, picking up, and paying for orders. There was a rush of people, so I had to wait almost ten minutes in line to pick up my carryout order and it was sitting there getting cold during that time.

The problems are small ones compared to how awesome they are overall, so I definitely highly recommend this restaurant!

Food, service, employees, the owner were all great. Clean establishment, clean bathrooms. A place can't get any better than this one! When I say the food is awesome, it's AWESOME! Fresh and seasoned very well! The strawberry cake was home made down to the icing and you can tell it! I'm definitely going back!

Holy. Smokes. Now THIS is southern food. Best fried chicken I've eaten since I was a kid. Savory, juicy, and the breading is amazing. Cornbread is moist and falls apart in your hand. Black eyed peas are cooked to perfection. Can't believe how great this place is. Very clean and very kind staff. Highly recommended .

Last evening had the experience checking out the new Shut Em Down (the old famous Amos) restaurant for the first time. The new more modem space was great. I was wanting some good fish, something that has been hard to find on the West side! The food was very good, not over cooked and full of salt!!! We will be back soon, plan to bring more friends and family! Oh and the fish was perfect! ⭐????????????????

Amazing food, prices and people! Best fried chicken I've had in Jacksonville. It takes 15-20 minutes, but it's well worth the wait! Homemade sides, cakes, giant cookies...it's all good! If you think you like Soul Food Bistro, let Shut Em Down change your mind. Awesome!
