This is a case of Golden Corral meeting the Great Wall of China with the customer winning out. First getting into Chow's can be a challenge if you are heading North on Southside. You have to find an opening while making a U-Turn so you are heading south on Southside. Parking is plentiful however when busy can be a challenge. Entered and taken to our booth. Unlike GC you don't pay for your Buffet till after you have eaten. Booths are comfortable and clean 5 ⭐ with your drink order taken by a server...ours was Valene who was absolutely pleasant a nice 5 ⭐ employee. Now the food. Salad Bar is ok but didn't find any Romaine Lettuce but plenty of toppings, dressing and very good crab salad and egg salad so that's a 5 ⭐ area. The next area was the fried foods, chicken, wings, shrimp and more. All were tasty, plentiful and fresh so 5 ⭐. Next I tried the BBQ area and the Beef selections, Brisket was terrible, though and tasteless. Let me combine all the Beef selections into this. Broccoli Beef, Beef and Peppers pus the Brisket were at best 1 ⭐. Now chicken and all fish selections were 5 ⭐. Soups were also good with Hot and Sour being a real standout 5 ⭐. Desert area is good but could use a few more exciting items so 4 ⭐. Putting it all together a few little things cause the 4 ⭐ rating but not one of them enough to prevent you or us from returning. Prices are good as id the food so see you there in the future.

Chow’s Country Buffet recently opened in a renovated Golden Corral.

As the name suggests, the buffet serves a mix of Asian dishes and country fare.

We decided to give them a try for the lunch buffet.

I have to say, they have one of the larger selection and varieties of foods at a buffet that I have seen in a long time. There is a dessert station, a fried food section, a section with grilled meats and more.

The buffet was constantly replenished by the staff, and the restaurant was fairly busy during this day. Service was also friendly.

Some of the items we liked were the fried chicken, the coconut shrimp, the butterfly shrimp, pot roast and orange chicken.

We liked that for the ice cream, it was available in single serve containers rather than people having to scoop it themselves out of a big bin.

The cakes and pies were not homemade, but honestly for the price point, you can’t really expect freshly baked desserts. I think the dessert options were still good for what you are paying.

Overall, I think this is a great option if you are wanting to go to a buffet. There is a large selection ranging from pizza, to fried chicken, to Asian dishes, all for a good price.

At the time of our visit, the lunch buffet was around 11.99 for adults and 10.99 for seniors and military.

Dinner prices are higher, but we’ll come back another time to give it a try.

Very good food. Everyone was very helpful. Huge selection. Excellent prices. We will definitely be regulars. Fried chicken, salad, boiled shrimp, brussel sprouts, pot roast, strawberry shortcake were all very good

Today was my first visit to Chows Country Buffet.

Rachael, was the hostess and quickly took our drink orders and seated us in a newly upholstered booth.

The remodeling job the new owners did is absolutely wonderful. Great colors, very bright and open. The new atmosphere certainly seems to make the food taste better. If you had been to this location as the previous Golden Corral, the new make over will make my thought about the food tasting better make sense 😜

I am amazed that they can put on such a fabulous lunch for $10.99 as a new senior I was thrilled.

I made a meal out of chilled deveined chilled large shrimp and baked fish.

There were many many Asian dishes I will try in the future, I just couldn’t do it today and go back and finish my project this afternoon.

Our servers name was “Silver”, she was delightful and attentive.

My meal was perfect and I will definitely go back.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food here was pretty good for a buffet. It is way better than golden coral and the Chinese buffets here in Jacksonville. There were a lot of options. I really enjoyed the fusion. The food was hot and fresh. Their weren't too bad either. It's good if you're not in a rush and if you have kids, especially teenagers who eat a lot. The waitresses were also very quick and attentive.I most definitely will come back here again.
