Ital Vegan

Absolutely the best, fresh, and authentic Indian/West Indies/Nigerian/Vegan food in Jacksonville. This place is one of the few places that has me consistently wanting to come back each week. Our typical order consists of the Kurry Bash, Samosas, and the Roti flatbread.

I would describe the bash as a sort of golden curry on rice, and it comes with sides of kale, fried plantains, and pickled red onions. The flavors are always impeccable and has the perfect amount of heat (I'd probably say most white people would consider it hot, while someone who is used to spices would probably consider it to be warm/mild.

The plantains are quite plain/traditional? I've only ever cooked them this way but it's always good. Slightly sweet and a tiny bit salty. If you're big into textures, I'm not sure if you'll like these.

The kale salad is great- more mild flavors but not enough to where it's like you're eating grass. It's slightly steamed/cooked so it's not the same as raw kale.

The pickled onions are exactly what they sound like. Haha.

The Samosas are incredible as well. Flaky, crispy, savory, hot, it's all there. I'd compare their size to slightly smaller than a tennis ball and they typically come on some shredded purple cabbage. Definitely a solid choice, but it does have some heat (about the same as the bash). Order at your own discretion I guess.

The Roti flatbread is an Indian, flaky, more on the moist side type of flatbread. It has some basic flavors but it always adds to the Kurry Bash which is why we typically get it. We've also tried a couple of other dishes from this place and have been equally impressed with all of them- these are just our top ones.

If I had to nitpick about something, I'd say to watch out as there are occasionally bits of herbs and such that may be in your food. Things like bay leaf and ainse and one other spice (a black seed like spice, didn't know what it was called) occasionally get left in and it isn't exactly pleasant to eat. Oh, and the prices are a little up there compared to the portion sizes but I'd definitely say that the food is worth the cost. What good food in Jax isn't pricy.

Overall, if you're looking for incredible flavors that still feel like a homecooked meal, this is your place.

We got the kurry chik’n bash, the not-tails bash, and the lobsta mak n’ cheese. All three were delicious with generous portions. The flavors were new to us and complemented each other well. Excited to try the many other options. Best vegan place in Jax!!! A must-visit!

My family was driving through Jacksonville on the way to Orlando, and Ital Vegan let us order even though it was late for them. What an incredible meal! I highly recommend Ital Vegan whether you are vegan or not. It is among the best vegan food I've had anywhere, and I would travel *well* out of my way to eat here again. The Not-Tails and Kurry were amazing, including the sides and salads. The sides were delicious, and the samosas were some of the best I've had anywhere. Even the drinks and desserts were excellent - we had the roots pie and peach kobbler desserts, and the hibiscus and soursop drinks.

They are brilliant, creative chefs and nice people. I look forward to coming back.

Open on Saturdays and you can also order online. They even offer curbside service!
The drinks are amazing! The Not-Tails are amazing! The Curry Roti Wraps are amazing! The Aloo Samosas are amazing!! And the Apple Chutney??🔥🔥🔥

Great food, order came out on time and was hot portion size was ok would have liked a little more of the main dish for the price but whatever but the food was solid.

I had the not kluckin chikin and I would recommend 👌

I miss that west Indian curry taste that you don't find often if you don't eat meat.

I don't want no beyond, no impossible no fake substitutes server how nature made it.
Ital nailed that with the curry and oyster mushroom yall!!!

Roti was on point,yall bussup shut!!!!!
