Taste of Jamaica

As a New Yorker who only has delicious Jamaican Food when I visit back home, I was delighted to see there was an authentic Jamaican Restaurant only 20 min from the hotel. We arrived well after 7pm (they close at 8) due to being sent to another restaurant that was closed for business. I ordered the Oxtail Regular dinner with Cabbage and rice and peas. I also ordered Curry Goat, but they were sold out. That broke my heart...lol, but I opted for Curry Chicken with white rice and plantains. My Love had the Jerk Chicken with Mac and Cheese and white rice. I also got a Beef Patty with Coco Bread to enjoy on the ride back to the hotel. When I bit into the patty it was like being transported back to my childhood in Queens getting a patty from 134 and Guy R. Brewer. The patty was flavorful and flaky. The bread was soft and buttery. My partner enjoyed it as well. We hurried and made our plates once we got in the room and sat on the balcony to enjoy our food and watch the waves. The oxtail was tender and seasoned to perfection. The cabbage was perfectly cooked and made a great addition. The Curry Chicken was good, but I definitely missed the potatoes and carrots. We washed our delicious food down with DG Cream Soda. We will definitely make sure to go back when we come visit again

The best Jamaican restaurant in town for sure!! The owner is very friendly and is an amazing chef. Everything is freshly cooked to order, the prices are great, and the beautiful young girl up front has the most amazing customer service! Love being there, it’s a great atmosphere, experience, and most importantly the best food in town!! Try everything out it all taste good!!

Richard the cook and the sweet girl served me and my family with the best Jamaican food I have ever ate! And I have been to Jamaica quit often! There rice and peas and Jerk Chicken is amazing! My husband ate so fast that he even started to eat mine! I ordered catering trays after my family has been craving food from Taste of Jamaica!!! Love it

Hands down the best Jamaican spot in Jacksonville. The food was great and customer service was very friendly❤️. Their jerk pork definitely reminded me of Jamaica.

Really fantastic food and atmosphere. We got lucky when we found Taste of Jamaica on a road trip. The oxtails were the best I’ve ever had.
