The Cookbook Restaurant

Excellent Food. Love the art, layout, lighting. Potential to be Excellent quaint restaurant with the right customer service team. Customer service inadequate to put it nicely. Not enough staff for the Sunday afternoon customers. Obvious employees not working together as a team. Male staff instead of informing customer they didn’t have waffles went to the store and bought the batter. The family had food but child left without eating and they had to Waite 10 more minutes to pay. Should have been complimentary. Male used hand sanitizer upon returning from the store vice actually washing his hands and proceeded to serving plates. When I was informed incorrectly about a food item and the correct info was provided I changed my order the male came to me and just blatantly interrupted my conversation and asked what the problem was even though customers were waiting. I changed my ordered and he said oh becomes I’m confused. Seriously, I thought. We had to ask for service after sitting 15 minutes and food came 30 plus minutes but no silverware. I was told by the male in the muddle of conversation as well as my sister where the door was (not sure if he was joking but I was surprised every time he said it. Really, not funny. Only 1 tablet to close out customer orders and no receipt offered. Yelled for us to come in sit down, menu on the wall. Didn’t offer water nothing while you watched him zip around and question everything the female waitress assisted us with to include bring a to go box because we could not watch him anymore. Needless to say my sisters and I did not tip him just rude and he didn’t even realize what he was saying was inappropriate. He yelled at us on the way out and said, Hey, was there a problem. I just walked away. No tip says something is seriously wrong. Recommend actual side size bowls. They so small my delicious salad and grits could not accommodate a toss or stir without falling on the table. I will try ordering in advance or to go because the food is DELICIOUS!

It is true to itself. Neat, clean, good food. Staff are attentive, good- spirited. Time slows down inside this restaurant. Just relax and enjoy your Food, your company, the beating of your heart.

GREAT FOOD!! Atmosphere is awesome, always good music playing. The food is AWESOME, the definition of soul food! Staff and customer service are A1! Do yourself a favor and try dessert too!

I'm always greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff especially the owner.. Visited for First Friday in July and it was awesome. Grooved to the sweet sound of the Heart of Elaine jazz band. They were phenomenal!! Ordered chicken wings, they were not great but okay. Will certainly be back
