Very good biscuits and gravy. Also loved the livers and onion with side order of brown gravy. Had the sirloin for main course with potatoes and green beans, all very well prepared. It's like an old fashion store with grandma's cooking. Very clean. However, so much stuff as you walk in clutter wise... Makes you feel a tad overwhelmed if you have OCD with cleanliness. My wife can't go here due to that. There should be a clear disconnect from the restaurant side vs the store side, alternate entrance, or something else so your not forced to enter through the clutter or pay your bill there as well. My 2 cents.

I almost always get the vegetable plate... go to is green beans, turnip greens, fried okra and baked sweet potato. If you like southern style veggies - there's no where better! Event though they were slammed, we were in and out in.less than an hour.

I'm not a big fan of Southern cooking (probably due to my northern roots) but since I had a gift card off I went. I had the sourdough bread with an egg in a hole cut in the middle of each slice, with runny yolk (at my request) with bacon. I chose the loaded hash browns for the other side. The latter went home in a box as I was full from the rest and they need to be cooked longer (mushy). The eggs/toast were good, not seasoned but that's a good thing as the bacon was plenty salty, with just the right balance of cooked well but still chewy. The coffee was okay. Not as strong as I like it but definitely not the coffee flavored water I've had elsewhere. I was seated quickly, my server was friendly and efficient, and checkout was fast. I was there at 8 am on a Monday holiday on probably the closest morning this winter, so I'm sure that's not going to happen on a Saturday at 11 AM.

Nice a warm atmosphere. I love the general store with cute things to buy. I wasn't a fan of the salty biscuits or the corn bread. The corn bread tasted a bit sour (it could only be just that day). The mashed potatoes where unsalted and generally the food was a bit bland for my taste. Next time I will try something else!

We love shopping as much as the food. We always head the 70% off section and work our way around. The soda pops are a great way to remember the past as is some of the candy. Seasonal changes make each visit different. We love it !
