Mel's Hot Dogs

An $11 hot dog? People have been lining up for them for years and NOBODY is complaining. The food looked fresh, the place was very clean, the staff is nice, and the decor has that classic diner from the 50s look. I'm glad it survived tough economies. Two things should never change on Busch Blvd. 1. Busch Gardens 2. Mel's Hot Dogs just to the east.

Very nice retro diner vibe. Clean, easy to order, great menu that wasn't over-complicated. Whole family enjoyed their meals, but it was a little more than we were expecting to pay for hot dog, fries, and fountain drink. Great experience, but a little rough on our wallet. Also, all dogs come on a poppy seed bun, so be warned if you're not a fan of poppy seeds. We all agreed the fries were phenomenal, though!

Great sign when you pull up and the parking lot is full! Greeted by friendly staff as soon as you walk in the door. Food was good, bun was warm and fresh, Hot dog is made to order however you like it. We ordered the basket, they give more fries then you can eat with a drink. Mels is very clean. Took us a 30 minute drive to get there but was worth it. We will be back!

Drove 30 min. to get here. First impression parking lot is full. Inside is clean friendly and cool. Had bigger chicago dog combo.
Buns are fresh food quality great and more fries that you can eat. Drinks are refilled. Spent 20.00 on 2 meals so price should be no surprise for you. There food is made to order and they are busy but only took under 10 minutes. Owner was there and checking on tables if there is a problem I'm sure it will be handled.

Yay they have a delicious vegetarian dog though that's not what they're known for. Great selection of dogs and toppings. Hot and fresh. Good fries. Mel was there saying hi to everyone. Nice to see he's still open after many years. Must visit if you are at Busch gardens or in Tampa
