Anise Global Gastrobar

Food was good. Service not so much. The guys behind the bar were doing shots with a lady at the end of the bar and a server. If it wasn't for that they might have been more attentive to the paying customers.

Made it there in time for the hour of Happy Hour. A seriously good rye old fashioned! Tried about every small plate on the menu and everyone was as good as the last! Make sure to get a few on the stinky buns, the tater tots, deviled eggs, and korean wings. Did make the bill rather high but no regrets!

First of all, Carlos is AMAZING! His feisty persona combined with his talent behind the bar make for such a comfortable, fun experience. The lively and charismatic people who make this place great are just the beginning of this night spot. They all make this a warm and accommodating choice. The late night food option is a wonderfully surprising gift! BEYOND DELICIOUS! Super great menu... Especially compared to the usually offered " late night menu" the other guys advertise. Come here! You'll ABSOLUTELY love it!

Interesting place. Terribly slow service and charges like a Michelin star steak house (it's good but not that good). Great cocktails though they were out of many.

If the service was impeccable I'd let the price slide and rate higher.

Best truffle tater tots in the world. They were so good, I got a second order despite being full. Customer service is nice too. Worth a visit.

EDIT: I'm changing my 4 stars to 5 stars. We're back a year later and it got even better. When they mention an ingredient in the menu, you can taste it in the actual food. That's something I can't say about many restaurants. Anise's food quality is right up there with some of the best restaurants I've been to. The music and lighting is fun and warm too.
