Jakes Tex-mex

Went to Jake's for friends BIRTHDAY luncheon. First time...food was great..had Jake's tacos and the waitress was very accommodating to our group of 9. Did a good job. Will go back.

So good, a step, no two steps above the other Mexican restaurants in Vero. Mira is a wonderful person to have as our waitress. Best Flan ever. Easy access, parking in back.

Normally Jake's is closed on Sunday, but Cinco De Mayo was a reason to open and party. From 4 to 7 there was live music and the place was so packed you couldn't hear it as the noise level was very high. However, the guests were having a good time, dancing and drinking. The menu was limited for the night to make it easier for the staff. I ordered more than I knew I would eat. Chili, jalapeno poppers, salsa and chips, roasted corn and flan. The flan was very good and the rest was okay but not my thing, except the corn, which was, though a little under cooked, the highlight of the night. My waiter was good at his job and busy. So to be fair to Jake's, I was told to come back on a regular night and try the brisket menu. I will return.

I'm seeing a lot of people disappointed in the "Tex-Mex" label that is put on this place and I have to agree. This is NOT a traditional Tex-Mex restaurant by any means BUT it is a specialty taco place and a "highly Americanized high end Tex-mex inspired restaurant." And with that they do extremely well. I tried almost all of their individual to-order tacos and enjoyed each one. The quality of the food is quite high and the taste is great as well.

The service was amazing and in more than one occasion my waiter went above and beyond to make up for typical mistakes that happen all the time in kitchens.

I do recommend this restaurant for those who have time for a long lunch or are in no rush for a lovely but long dinner. Working people beware. I've gone for lunch twice and both times I have waited 30 to 40 minutes on tacos. On my second lunch there were only two other people in the restaurant. I gave them a pass on my first lunch that took over 30 minute wait time because it was a bit crowded but even for specialty tacos, 30 to 40 minutes wait time for two tacos is unbelievable.

If you are looking for the quality but affordable prices that are typically associated with Tex-Mex restaurants, you won't find it here. If you are looking for a great dinning experience with high quality but also higher priced food with a Tex-Mex theme, then you will greatly enjoy your time at Jake's Tex-Mex restaurant.

Can't say enough about this place!! Loved on this town my whole life and with all the restaurants opening up we have been trying allot of them... This by far is our new favorite!! Great (huge) portions, awesome service, and atmosphere was fun!! Definitely going back
