Amazing Mexican right off the highway! I skipped visiting this place for months thinking it was a tiny take-out kiosk - nope, huge indoor seating space. Food is delicious, the chips and salsa are great and salsa is def above average for these types of spots. Service usually quite prompt with few exceptions. Entree wise I always go for fajitas and am never disappointed, sizzling and delicious. They've got a super spicy red sauce available on demand, but you might have to ask more than one person. So glad we've got this gem in town!
The chips and salsa are really good. The chips are warm and the salsa has a little spice to it. The steak fajitas are really good as well and the veggies that come with it are sauteed perfectly. The rice and beans are delicious and the drinks were never empty. The service staff were very polite as well.
The only thing I don't recommend are the flour tortillas. They're from a bag, probably from the Walmart across the parking lot and taste disgusting. Taco Bell wouldn't serve those. They also were just warmed up (microwave?), but not cooked on a stove. The tortilla looked raw in places.
If it weren't for those awful tortillas this place would be a 5 star restaurant.
My family loves San Marcos. The owners are very nice and always greet us when we come in. We love the staff there everyone is fantastic. We received top notch service and the food is always wonderful.
The service was amazing!! The server was helpful in deciding what to get. The chips and salsa were so good and we loved the cheese dip. It was a lot of cheese for the price and compared to what we are used to. The food came out quick and tasted so good. The server checked back with us a lot. Prices were great especially for the amount of food. We will be back.
Stopped in for lunch on the way home to Tallahassee. Crowded, but got a seat. Quicker service than I expected based on the crowd.
Chips were just OK, salsa the same. However, if you like it hot, ask for the homemade hot salsa - it won't disappoint.
Ordered the house specialty, San Marcos platter I think it was called. Lots of food but nothing stood out from the rest. My wife ordered the chicken toquitos and they were the best she's ever had. Plenty of chicken and lightly fried; enough to bring home leftovers. Meals were very reasonably priced, too.
Star reduction due to lack of enough A/C and average flavor value. They have fans but didn't turn them on. Minor point but it was not a 5 Star place either.
