Friendly staff, very delicious schnitzels for good prices ????
Great food, reasonably priced for what you get. Will definitely visit next time in the area.
Great food, wide variety of schnitzel, all of them delicious, and the service very friendly, fast and professional. We loved it
Actual Gernan food cooked by actual Gernans. It was nothing short of spectacular. We stopped by Friday night an hour before they were listed to close. I figured we would pick up food to take with us to the hotel. It was remarkable to find a pleasant woman who advised that they stay open late when people are hungry.
This is astonishing to find in this day and age. The food was savory. The portions were just right. The music was in German, and at a very acceptable level. There was even a real cuckoo clock, folks. This is not a restaurant to be missed.
We proceeded to bring our friends the next evening and would have eaten there a third night if we didn't have to leave.
We can't wait to come back next time we are in the area.
Bottom line: do not miss. This place is a quick trip to Europe without a plane ticket. I’ve had the fortune to spend time on three continents and I can confidently say that Schnitzel Haus and its gracious hosts will stick out in my memory for a very long time.
I’m trying to sum up our experience without spoilers. It is clear that the entire experience comes from a labor of love, with love, and in love (Herr and Frau Lehmann have many customer/friends and family photos on the wall, the most adorable of which I was by chance privileged to sit in front of).
That love comes out to the tune of art as soon as you take a bite. Perfection. I was afraid I might’ve offended the hosts by eating as little as I did, but it was legitimately because I couldn’t decide which bite to take next.
Menu selection is more than just meat, potatoes and beer - but don’t miss them, either. And German beer on draft that’s pulled the way it’s meant to be? This is your stop. Recommend the “dirty beer” - draft beer and Coke/Sprite, AKA a radler and its variants. We had kartoffelpuffer (the OG potato pancake), curry schnitzel and sauerbraten. Someone managed to make blaukraut (braised red cabbage) better than my Mom’s, and it instantly transported me to childhood. I’m afraid to tell my father about this place for fear he’ll be on the next plane. And that’s just a side dish.
It’s worth it for the beer alone. Even if you don’t like German and Swiss food, go for broke and give Herr & Frau a shot at changing your mind. Enjoy!
