LaMotta's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria

LaMotta’s accommodated our very large, late night group of almost 30 people with only a few hours notice. The food and service were great. Chef Carmelo prepared rolls, pizza, Caprese Salad, Cannelloni, and home made Cannoli. Because we needed late night accommodation, LaMotta’s made sure that our food was ready as soon as we arrived. Every bite was delicious and members of our group were very impressed. Most had never been to LaMotta’s but have made plans to return. We were treated like royalty throughout our visit. If you’re in the Fort Myers area and searching for a place to try for dinner, put LaMotta’s at the top of your list.

The best pizza in I had in Ft Myers so far. The chef knows his pizza...but the service is the worst I ever seen in a local restaurant. Those ladies are so rude. But I keep on going back because of the pizza. I just do pick up and still is never ready when they say is going to be. And they still tell you when you pay with a card, how much are you going to leave as a tip. Very rude...but good pizza.

My family and I went to LaMotta's on 7/24 in the afternoon for dinner. I want to start off with the positive side of this review. I know businesses form lots of reputation around these reviews so I want to be 100% honest while not being completely negative. The five stars of this review is strictly in response to the food. There were seven of us, we all absolutely loved our dinner...so delicious! I promise you will love whatever you decide to order from there and it is real Italian food. Kudos to LaMotta's for this.

However, I want to make it known of how disappointed and shocked I am at the service we received (Diana I believe is the waitress's name). She had extremely rude behavior throughout the entirety of the dinner. Rude tone, rude faces made at certain requests, etc. The most shocking thing, however, was how she handled our food. My family ordered a large pizza. When the waitress set down the pizza, she started to serve the pizza. I understand the nice gesture, however it is completely unsanitary to serve pizza and touch it with your bare hands to put it on the plate. My stepmother nicely told the waitress we could serve the pizza ourselves. This was not taken kindly and she stormed off. Later on when boxing up our leftovers (again, a completely normal courtesy at restaurants), the waitress repeatedly touched the pasta with her BARE hands to make sure it got into the container. This is completely unsanitary and not normal. This should strictly be done with utensils, not with bare hands. The waitress's mood only changed at the end of the service when we were paying for the bill and leaving the tip. If I had zero heart I would have given no tip in this particular circumstance. However, I still gave 15% (which is extremely low for me as I normally give at least 25%) because I know how hard people in this industry work.

This service was a huge negative to me, but I do highly recommend LaMotta's food if you love Italian. I really hope this is addressed with the waitress, and hopefully many customers do not have to deal with this going forward. I would go again if not for this waitress.

I visited the restaurant a few weeks ago. OMG! The food and the service were great. The environment was very welcoming. The owner worked the cash register, and a sweet older woman served me a glass of wine while I waited on my food. I ordered my food to go, but my husband and I agree we will dine in next time
