Smackin’ Lips Diner

The atmosphere was nice, restaurant was clean, but they were out of what I ordered, at lunch on a Saturday... And, it wasn't even that busy. So, I'm assuming that was an inventory issue. My husband ordered the catfish sandwich plate, his sides were cold (the cheese would not melt in his grits!) And, the fish tasted like it was fried in old grease. I ordered a burger, since they were out of my original order (pulled pork). The burger was ok. Nothing spectacular or anything like that, but it wasn't that bad, but my sides were cold too. And, our tea tasted like Yankee tea (no offense, but we are from and in the south). I give the diner credit for being clean, and our waitress was nice, but we just weren't impressed with the food, especially for the price. We left more food on our plates than what we ate, and paid more than we would have for what we got. But, we were on our way home from an already long morning, so we just stayed and ate and didn't really complain, so I guess the food issue was on us, since we didn't say anything. But, I did have high hopes going in that it would be better than what it was. We won't be eating there again though.

Ribs were good as were the sweet potato fries & fried okra. Cooked hot & not sitting around. Unsweetened tea good. Nice location between Tallahassee & Lake City FL. Bathrooms clean. Open on Sunday- will be back.

We are driving through from Orlando, saw the name, and said, "We HAVE to have go there." We were not disappointed! The food was great and the service was incredible. Myra (who also ended up being from Orlando) was delightful, courteous, and funny. We would love to come back!!

I had the fried chicken my husband had the patty melt. Both were completely amazing! I was really impressed they had a salad bar. Haven't seen one in years but it was really fresh and yummy. DO NOT leave without getting a slice of cake. We had the 10 layer red velvet and it was so good!!!
