I was really looking forward to getting an arepa here but overall, I was disappointed.
Pros - cute space, convenient location, good Latin music, and friendly staff. The arepa was ok. I got La Pelua (arepa stuffed with shredded beef and Gouda cheese). The arepa had a lot of meat and cheese in it (too much for my tastes but others may like that). I asked for avocado for an extra cost which I was ok with (although surprised that they would charge $3.80 for 3 slices of avocado). I would add that the food tastes fresh (everything is made to order so this isn’t a place to come to if you’re in a rush).
Cons - The beef was not well-seasoned. It tasted like it just had adobo and tomato sauce added to it. The ratio of meat to the arepa was too much. I would have preferred a larger arepa and less meat and cheese. The cafe con leche was almost $5 for about 10oz. It was incredibly bitter (and I actually really like strong, dark, coffee). Altogether, including tax I paid about $25 for this meal. It was certainly not worth the price. I won’t be coming back.
It’s been months and I still think about these arepas! So delicious and very generous portion- could easily make two meals out of it. Good cafecito and traditional American food available that is decent if you have someone in the group that’s a bit picky
Loved the arepas . Got the tuna and pelua and both were tasty. We thought that they were very generous as the arepas were filled. The cheese empanada was ok.
I read the reviews that said this was the best arepas shop in Miami. The staff were friendly (which many complained about). We thought it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. We ordered the carne asada arepa and cachapas. The crane asada was good but the cheese to meat ratio was off. They needed to have a lot more cheese on it. We thought we’d be able to share one but they’re a bit difficult to split between two people. The cachapas was interesting with the sweet tasting corn but on top was a mountain of cheese that didn’t add that much to the taste. It was nice that it was made fresh but the food took 20 min for what is a fast food style meal. I would rather have them increase the price of each meal and give free sauce but charging people $1 for the smallest amount feels off. The location is good with it right off the busy Main Street of South beach on Washington Ave.
My first trying Venezuelan food and it was a combination of a lot of flavors. This place offers a variety of arepas and sandwiches and the dishes are cooked per order, so fresh and tasty. I have ordered Mini patacones(fried tostones and topped with seasonned shreddedbeef),
Cachapa con nata y queso venezolano( similar to corn bread with kind sweet cheese in between and topped with shredded cheese), Reina repiada(shredded cold chicken with fresh cut avocado on a corn bread),Pabellon(shredded beef, fried plantain, cheese and black beans sandwich), the food overall was freshly made and it tasted very good. The portions wise are not small and I suggest to order only one dish because the food fills you up quickly.
