I hate to leave an eh review but for the price point, it must be done. Service was great. We did a walk in and someone the hostess placed us at a lovely window table. Our server was great. The free bred was the highlight of the meal, which should not be the case.
I had the Gorgonzola gnocchi, was was quite clearly sourced from the manufacturer of the Trader Joe’s frozen item of the same name for $3.25. They tossed some (whole?) cloves of roasted garlic in there that was clearly dethawed and did sort of a basil chiffonade on top to give the illusion it was made in house.
My boyfriend ordered a tortellini dish that was quite clearly frozen tortellini (you know the brands) and tossed with whatever. It was fine. We ate some of it and took it home as food waste is gross. But at $20 an entree for clearly reheated frozen food, that feels insulting. Maybe the other food is better, but if I wanted frozen pasta I am fully capable of doing that myself. For $20+ an entree I expect some semblance of fresh pasta. You should make your own food for that price. Gnocchi isn’t that hard.
The bread that was sparingly distributed was good. $21 for a bag of gnocchi I can buy at Trader Joe’s for $3 and frozen tortellini we can find at the public 3/4 a mile away? Not cool, guys. Maybe your other food is better, but at $20/a plate for frozen pasta? Give us something I can’t whip up in a on five shorts of whiskey and canes .Nice view, though!
We dined here for our honeymoon and my hubby’s birthday, and it did not disappoint! I got a hogfish special, and the fish tasted sooo fresh and light. The staff was so sweet and kind. Shoutout to our waitress Tiffany for chatting with us and making sure we were comfortable. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Truly a highlight of our trip :)
Arrived early at the restaurant so enjoyed the bar for a bit. Britt is the bartender and she made some killer martinis.
It was all great from the bread to salad to main courses. We had seats by the window and overlooked the water which was very pleasant. All service staff was friendly and attentive.
Excellent dinner and service.
We highly recommend both locations for an excellent dinner experience. Be sure to try Virgilio's at the downtown location for great music and after dinner drinks. The Espresso Martini and sidecar was fantastic.
Absolutely FANTASTIC place! The staff was genuinely friendly. The drinks were amazing (martinis & wine). And the food was absolutely INCREDIBLE (escargot, stuffed mushrooms, hogfish, canneloni al forno, and ossobuco - HOLY MOLEY), !! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Will be back... OFTEN! Extra kudos to Brit behind the bar, and our waitress, Savina.
