Callahan Barbecue

I moved here from Michigan in 2016 and had yet to find a decent place to get fried chicken, that is, until a neighbor recently told me about Callahan Barbecue. I live close to Amelia Island and Callahan Barbecue is about 18 miles away from me. My brother-in-law is visiting with his family, so today I asked him if he wanted to go on a short road trip to get some chicken. He initially thought I was joking but I told him that there was a place in Callahan that I wanted to try. We picked up a 15 piece fried chicken bucket to-go and all I can say is that there is no chicken left over! The answer to "was it worth driving 36 miles round trip for some chicken?" Easy answer...HE** YEAH!! We are now looking forward to going back to try some of their barbecue dishes!

Awesome bbq and fried chicken! Our church uses them for many catering needs.. Respect the owner in many ways including he closes his business on Sundays for worship & family time.

If you're looking for great barbecue and large portions this place is a must. Get there early at lunch, crowds are outside the doors waiting. That's how good the food is!

Always good hot food cooked fresh.

Be prepared for a wait if you go for dinner. I waited 45 minutes Friday evening........

Good place. Good food. Busy place. Today the chicken roasted was dry. Ribs good. Coleslaw wasn't as good as last week when we were there. No fried chicken yet. 20mins wait when we order. Told its the best around...
