Wonderful fried chicken , Mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese with Corn. Delicious. Oh don't forget the banana pudding.

We rolled up to Island BBQ and were a little nervous about our choice for supper. It looked absolutely deserted (it was an hour before closing). "But hey!" I figured, "at least we'll have the place to ourselves and can better enjoy each other's company." (I always try to find the silver lining.)

Walking in, it was smoky and dimly lit. The place was clean but shabby, with well worn furniture in a tiny store front. You order at the register and pay before you sit down, and so we did.

My husband ordered the pork and I ordered the white meat chicken. We also got to sample the beef brisket and fried chicken.

The brisket was expertly smoked and perfectly sauced. The fried chicken was wonderful, lightly breaded and delicately seasoned, but best of all, NOT overcooked.

And then it was time for our supper! My husband ate every scrap of the pork with the crinkle cut fries, macaroni and cheese, and extra side of coleslaw (the mac and cheese and slaw were made from scratch in house).

I tried to eat all of my groceries (seasoned green beans, crinkle cut fries, and white meat smoked chicken) but had to ask for a box to take the rest home to eat for lunch today (lucky me!).

There is a lunch buffet that I hear is quite popular. If the food on the buffet is half as good as what I ate for supper, and again for lunch today, it is worth every penny they ask for it.

So, I've made all these words to say this is the best BBQ I didn't make myself (and maybe better). I am looking forward to the next time I can get some Island BBQ.

Had the buffet today. It was delicious!! Closest thing to a Mom & Pop we've had here. The owners were GREAT!!See you next week!!!
