    Reason for Dining: Date Night!

First off I came for the gator ribs, unfortunately they only serve them on Saturdays 4-9p. Huge disappointment.

We pulled up around 7p on a Friday night and the small parking lot, about 15 spots, was full. I managed to squeeze into an unmarked area. Thankfully we made reservations, which allowed us to literally go straight to put seats with no wait.

But the food...AMAZING. My wife and I ordered the 4 Ribs(tender and sweet) platter with brussels and baked beans, and the Brisket(juicy, tender, flavorful) platter with coleslaw and collard greens. Everything was almost perfect, the baked beans could have been sweeter, but other than that the food was great.

The service was perfect and very welcoming. Definitely have to make a trip back here one day when visiting Fernandina Beach, preferably on a Saturday evening.

Excellent shrimp and grits. Great BBQ. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese but everyone is different. Service was excellent. It was good enough to eat there twice in four days.

Gilbert's is awesome! Amazing BBQ, by far my favorite in the Jacksonville area, great staff, awesome atmosphere, and great drinks too! I highly recommend the burnt ends, which is something I don't always find in BBQ on this coast. They don't always have parking available but it's well worth the wait!

Wow was this spectacular. Small restaurant, maybe 10 tables which means the servers are extremely attentive. Menu was top to bottom great. The waiter knew everything to a T and made great recommendations. Finally, make sure to save room for the Pecan pie at the end. Gilbert's was the best part of our trip. Thank you!

Food has good flavors, my beans were under cooked still needed another hour or two to finish. The Hot Chicken was excellent ???? with the house made pickles. Pickles were very good even bought a cup Togo! Barbeque was on point GOOD SMOKE melt in your mouth kinda stuff. Mac-n-cheese was a bit dry and needed to be seasoned a touch more. Collard greens were very delicious great flavor and texture. Banana pudding was very underwhelming, came out the color of over riped banana mixed with graham crackers. The texture was extremely grainy not smooth like you would like pudding to be. Tasted old like they should probably told me they were 86'd for the night. I would hope the few things would have been talked about and everything be even better the next time. Overall I enjoyed the food and will be back.
