I grew up in the Caribbean and I can tell you this is, finally, a place for me to order authentic favorites. The meals are great and the atmosphere very comfortable. I will certainly be returning.
While on vacation in Florida my husband and I wanted to find a good Cuban place to eat. We definitely were not disappointed! This will be a regular visit when vacationing in Florida
My preferred spot for tasty cuban food. Arrived at five, it wasn't busy. The prices are good for what you get.
I wanted to put their name to the test.
The side structure of the place seems a bit old and not very well taken care of. There's a big glass window on the front as you walk from the parking on the side. A bit hard to park if there are a lot of people there, luckily there was only 1 other car.
I walk in, noticed they have about a dozen small tables with chairs, and there was a couple with a server being tended. The place is small, there are a few decorations around and a big mirror in front of what looked to be a small bar. The mirror makes the place look a bit deeper than what it really is, and beyond that is the kitchen.
I was awkwardly greeted by the server who seemed to have thought I was looking for the man who was behind the bar for some reason. I may have given the impression I was lost perhaps? With that cue I just walked up to the bar and asked for a menu.
I had white rice with shrimp creole, red beans and a side of sweet plantains with an ice cold Modelo beer. I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was. The shrimp were flavorful, the rice was cooked just right enough that it neither stuck together nor it crumbled as you fork it, and the beans had just enough flavor that salt was not needed. Sweet plantains were as they always are, sweet.
Number one Cuban restaurant in the area. I'm not sure how their business is doing, but with such amazing cooks in their kitchen it deserves more attention.
