After having eaten 2 times recently at the original Yolk in Chicago, I thought I would try this one in Boca. Food and service were excellent at the Chicago location even though it was mobbed both times I visited, but I wouldn't rate the Boca location all that highly. My egg dish was missing one of the ingredients and we had to ask the waitress for silverware and also had to flag her down to get our empty glasses refilled, even though the restaurant was over half empty when we were there. I'd sooner fly back to Chicago and eat at the location there than go back to this place. But hey, what else should I expect from South Florida?
The red velvet french toast with scrambled eggs and bacon was good. Probably would have been amazing if I had eaten it there instead of picking up. Yolk puts this cream cheese middle wound through the center so yummy. The bacon could have been a little crisper, but again may have been the fact it was to go. My coworkers got the corn beef hash and were disappointed in the size of the dish. All in all I would definitely go back
The two scrambles we had were really good. The omelette is where the rating goes down. Put cheese in, not just on. There wad more cheese in the cheesy grits than the omelette, and they were great. The pancake side was huge and delicious. Their homemade jam was also really good. We'll be back.
Wide variety of food than include eggs. Drinks are Awesome. Nice location. Plenty of parking. Decent amount of seats. Great employees. A little slow in preparing the food for a large group, but worth it.
I pride myself on having dined at some amazing restaurants in this great country, especially for breakfast. I have enjoyed unique restaurants with sterling presentation and original ways of serving up the same fare. I have felt strongly about staffs who have gone above and beyond.
In all that time, I have never wanted to kiss the cook after the first bite, until now.
I had the onion bites, cheese grits, and South of the Border Benny (eggs Benedict), and I was over the moon. The Red Velvet pancakes were decadent like nothing I've had recently. The S'mores pancakes won over our picky eater. Colleen was a great server. In short, holy cow, what a meal!
A few caveats, however. You get what you pay for. Amazing food like this will cost much more than the average place. It's worth it. Also, when they're busy it will take longer for the food to come out. Again, it's worth the wait. The menu is brilliant and well executed. Highly recommended.
