(Have lived in Clearwater my entire life and have been taken to eat here quite a few times)
All in all: eh.
For a meal that consists of a couple slices of pizza and a small drink, you'll find yourself approaching a bill of 9 to 10 bucks. Is it pricey? Not too much. Is there any bang for your buck? No.
As far as local pizza goes: the selection at Tony's would consistently rank as mediocre. It can be greasy and the ingredients and crust are consistently not impressive. This restaurant is situated at the heart of downtown, and while it is very conveniently located, you can walk less than five blocks and find coal brick oven pizza of a higher quality for actually a slightly cheaper price (as far as whole pizza pies are concerned.) The atmosphere is very okay; nothing that makes it stand out. The service can range from slow to okay.
It's very easy to think this is some of the better pizza Clearwater has to offer and this is simply not true: don't let yourself be tricked by the big light-up sign and the downtown location.
Totally awesome food! Especially love the white pizza! (ricotta instead of sauce). This place is like a light in the darkness of Cleveland Street.
Simply put Tony's is great pizza. I've only had takeout so can't speak to the atmosphere of the restaurant itself, other than one cocktail while I was waiting which was great. There was a bit of a snafu with one of the ingredients due to an allergy, but the owner came out and personally spoke with me and made everything right. Definitely how you run a business. My opinion was reinforced when I had some P*p* John's a few weeks ago. Ick. Will not be straying away from Tony's again.
Best pizza in Florida. Friendly and community minded business. They host a local running group every Wednesday night @ 7 pm. The owner introduced himself and spent time talking with our table. It was a very enjoyable experience!!
