Usually visit Perkins over the weekends when they are open 24 hours, Friday and Saturday. Their breakfast is good, with interesting specials every month or so. The staff are always bright and courteous, even if the odd mistake is made. They also have a great variety of pastries and pies. I also love their book shelves, where the proceeds go to charity and you can also bring in books to donate, along with stuffed animals. Would recommend for a family breakfast spot.
The first Perkins opened in 1958 when Matt and Ivan Perkins opened the Perkins Pancake House in Cincinnati, Ohio. They franchised the restaurant in the 1960's. In 2011 Perkins went though bankruptcy forcing them to close many restaurants often without notice. Ever since then they have been struggling.
I love Perkins. There aren't any near me so I equate them with a road trip. They serve hearty home style meals for a reasonable price. They also have a bakery case featured prominently when you walk into the restaurant. They are well known for their pies. After a day hiking I was dirty and hungry. I found this Perkins on the way home and decided to stop for dinner. I saw a lot of locals enjoying an early dinner and the median age looked to be around 70. That was perfect for me because the older generation knows where to find the good cheap food.
For dinner I ordered the mini chicken pot combo that came with the meat pie, a salad, and a slice of the bakery pie. For dessert I chose the cherry pie. Everything was delicious and my meal with an iced tea and coffee came to $13. That's a value for you. Service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely visit this location again if I was in the area.
Super awesome food. No other way to put it. Great breakfast skillets and of course amazing pastries and desserts. Go here on an empty stomach and armed with a sweet tooth for beat possible experience. Good prices and very friendly staff. Great place all around.
