Food delicious service poor. Got salad after main course. Had to get another waitress to find our waiter. And then he was all over us kept asking to take my plate away....while I was chewing with fork in my hand.
I come for the view and to relax. For almost 30 years this has been a favorite place to stop in for a beer and to enjoy the view. Tonight was a treat because I had not been here since 2016 before the hurricane. The place is gorgeous inside and very contemporary. I still opted for the outside deck/bar area. We decided to stay for dinner. I ordered Conch Fritters (ok but not the best I have had). Then I ordered the Fish & Chips with a salad.
The meal arrived in the wrong order (salad, entree, appetizer) but it was no problem. The staff apologized and comped the fritters.
The salad was fresh and a pleasant surprise over the typical coleslaw served with this meal. The "chips" we're waffle fries. The fish was perfectly battered and fried. It was very flaky and flavorful.
My only complaint is that for the price you should get two pieces of fish and not a mountain of waffle fries (easily equal to three potatoes).
Would I return, probably ... But I might not order food unless the portions are corrected. I will still return for the views and a beer.
I went to Down the Hatch for dinner, everyone loved their food. The view, staff and food were all wonderful. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and the server was extremely knowledgable about their ingredients and so accommodating. She talked with the chef and kitchen manager to ensure my food was taken care of. They care and go the extra mile for their customers. I highly recommend dining here, plus the sunset view is beautiful.
My family went here for lunch during the week. The atmosphere is old fashioned but clean with a nice view of the water. The food was pretty good. Nothing phenomenal but nothing bad, either. The service was great and the prices were on the high side of average. No complaints but just average, for the price I would probably choose somewhere else next time.
