Finally found a good country cooking restaurant. Had grilled pork chops, fried green tomatoes, salad and cornbread. everything was delicious. Clean and friendly place.
Five star. The best restaurant around and food was so flavorful and tasty. Service is quick and super friendly.
Eggs were good, chicken fried steak a little dry, but white gravy moistened it up. Wife thought coffee tasted burnt, I thought it was ok. Staff very, very casual dress. Price reasonable. Bathroom clean.
Good prices and home style breakfast. Love this place. Will visit often.
Love going to the Whistle Stop! This is a great local eatery with lots of personality and is quite affordable. We often stop here either on Saturdays, for breakfast or Sundays, for lunch after church.
The staff is always friendly and I have noticed that they don't have a lot of turnover in their waitstaff. This is something that always stands out to me, since it is so hard to find good waitstaff, let alone keep them.
Another thing that I personally find endearing is that on holidays (i.e. Memorial Day) the owner closes. Probably a reason that they don't seem to have the turnover that many businesses experience. Putting the needs of others above chasing the almighty dollar... well, let's just say that many corporations could benefit from such thinking. But that is ideology that is for a different forum.
All said, this is a great little restaurant, with a surprisingly large menu that seems to constantly change. If your in the mood for some local fare, Whistle Stop Express is certainly worth the stop.
