Amazing food! I've never really had creole food, but if this is an example, then I've been missing out in life! Had the popcorn crawfish, my girlfriend had the etouffee, and I had the shrimp and grits. The grits came out in grit cakes. We ate every last bite and loved it! Also had awesome cocktails. Would recommend!!!!
Got into Savannah kind of late last Friday night and was pleased to find the Bayou Cafe open. My date had a fantastic crab cake sandwich and Dante took great care of us with the coctails. Nice job guys!
Bayou Cafe is a wonderful spot right on River Street, just slightly enough off the beaten path not to be touristy. The staff is fantastic, truly a bunch of Savannah characters! The food is superb, try the seafood gumbo and the etouffee.
They also feature live music every evening at 9 pm. So far we've never been disappointed. We are new to the area, and Bayou Cafe is our favorite Hangout. Very casual atmosphere and decor, highly recommended!
My fiance adds: if you're looking for chic and sophisticated, Bayou Cafe is not for you. If you're looking for a genuine and fun Savannah experience, don't miss this place!
I got the "signature" shrimp and grit cakes. I wasn't really impressed with them. The shrimp and grit cakes themselves were good, but the sauce didn't have a good flavor at all. I also got the alligator gumbo, it also did not have a good flavor. The appetizer cajun shrimp were excellent though. I gave 3 stars for ambiance, outdoor vibe and pool tables upstairs.
