Godfathers has really good pizza, when they are open. They recently changed their business days/times without notice or updating their web search. Now you can never catch them open! I called today and got placed on hold for 20+ minutes. Disconnected to call back and their line was off the hook.
I used to eat Godfather's Pizza in Macon when I was a kid... Back then there were a lot of pizza parlors (as they were called) including Shakey's which was really good. They tossed the crust right there where you could see them. But Godfathers.... Oh Godfathers... They were always the best!! The crust was so thick and the toppings were so chunky and the cheese was so abundant and melty... With the perfect tomato sauce... Savannah is the closest Godfathers to my home now, and a 3 hour drive for pizza is hard to justify... But this pizza is worth the drive now and then.
Unfortunately, I arrived in town Monday to find they wouldn't re open until Wednesday at 11am. I was beyond disappointed. Not fair, Godfathers.
Almost knocked off a star for that.
I'll be back.
Ate here tonight for the first time since getting carry out in the mid-90s with my grandma; I thought they'd been closed for fifteen years or more. When my husband and I found out they were still in business we speculated for a while that it was a front, or a time portal, or something like that. Finally called his bluff tonight to see if the place was still legit.
There were no rips in the space-time continuum that I could tell, which was more than a little disappointing. Pizza was really good, tho, and I had three slices. That's a lot for me. Especially good was how the crust wasn't droopy soggy. Droopy soggy crust is the worst.
Anyway, yeah. The place is still legit. Go get some pizza there or something.
