Champy's Famous Fried Chicken Athens

The best fried chicken I've had in years. Very crunchy! Mashed potatoes made with real potatoes. Got food to go so, no opinion on the wait staff.

Darn good chicken!!! It's better than your mama's fried chicken. The skin is so delightfully crunchy, yet the meat is so tenderly juicy. I was early to work this morning just to rave about the chicken. Anyways, the bajes beans were ok, nothing to go crazy over, but that's fine since the chicken was wonderful.

I was a regular. Last visit was served blackish colored fried chicken livers. Owner said "too bad" because other customers asked for them to be served overcooked.
The other chicken plate we also ordered was cooked perfectly golden brown and delicious. But, one bad experience - I'm done with ya.

My favorite spot for tasty chicken. I give this spot two thumbs up. The staff was friendly and sociable. The bill was average for the menu.

The fried chicken and fried catfish are awesome. The tamales are handmade and authentic. You absolutely must try the sausage and cheese basket! The sides are on point. I enjoyed the beans and cole slaw, as well. Wednesday is soul food night and you can get mac n cheese, collards, cornbread and some of the best fried chicken! The desserts are also excellent! The ranch dressing and other sauces (sweet heat, Champy’s) are house-made and the best in Athens. Additionally, the service here is top shelf- knowledgeable, attentive and extremely friendly. The owner is hands on and always wants to deliver an outstanding dining experience. The bar is small, but well run and offers great variety. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try- you won’t be disappointed.
