I’ll begin by stating that I work at this establishment (full disclosure), albeit not in the realm of preparing food. You can decide to read on or not. However, if you know me, you know my integrity is of utmost importance and I’ll proceed as such in this review.
Having returned to this town from much bigger arenas, Sidecar would hold its own in those cities in terms of creativity and execution.
I was fortunate enough to be in lovely company so we both could try a good portion of the menu. We had the brussels salad, gyoza, kimchi oysters and finished strong by splitting the burger. It should be noted those are only available in limited quantity and well worth ordering it early! After all, it comes with the best in house french fries I’ve had in recent memory. The menu and the items I tried from Sidecar truly are among if not the most creative food in Athens with delicious not being compromised in the slightest.
Now let’s turn to the bar portion of my evening. If you’ve made it this far, stick with me! I’m a traditionalist at heart so I ordered a gin martini with a twist. I do enjoy mine best shaken. I was not disappointed ice shards and all! In what can be confused as an easy drink to mix, many times is underwhelming and simply off due to improper technique and unbalanced portions of ingredients. I enjoyed mine so much I had two. I was very happy to see a well thought out list of alcohol free cocktails on the menu which I will be trying next time when it’s NOT a two martini night.
All that being said. Thank you Sidecar and my lovely company for a much needed delicious and fun evening.
One last comment…the gasoline on the 🔥 was pause, hi-five 🙌🏼, the mortadella corn dogs. Those were a test batch gifted by the kitchen but I suspect will be coming to a theater near (that’s you all) soon! Release date to be determined. CHOW
