The atmosphere is very nice but a little noisy. My biggest complaint is the same with most restaurants today. Almost all the entrees are centered around meat. The one veggie burger they had was so highly seasoned I couldn't finish it. There are so many great meals that can be made with vegetables that don't have to be overwhelmed with seasoning. And they don't need to mimic the taste of meat.
Really amazing food. The pork chop was out of this world good. Service was casual but attentive enough. The cocktails were interesting and well balanced. I really enjoyed this place.
Really cool spot in what looks to be an old bank, maybe? The old tiled floors, stained glass windows, dark wood. It's beautiful. The food was good. The cheese grits were a little bland and the fried green tomatoes were a little salty and had thicker breading than I prefer, but it was still good. I went for brunch, but I'd go b as ch for dinner in a heartbeat.
Absolutely delicious food. It's rare to go to a restaurant and love everything you eat, but this is what happened when we ate at South Kitchen + Bar. The chef obviously put a lot of thought and care into each dish, giving things like shrimp and grits, tater tots, fried green tomatoes, mac and cheese, and a cheese burger a special unique flair that brought new life and excitement to old favorites. All food should be this good. Our waitress was friendly, the decor unique. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Great spot! Portions are generous, food is wonderful. We had a huge group of about 15, they accommodated us, our dietary restrictions and splitting the check without batting an eye. Staff was friendly and warm. The Mint Julep was everything you want on a hot day in May. Absolutely worth a stop!
