Sonny's BBQ

My family and I came for the all you can eat ribs deal. I have lived in Athens for 20 years but have not eaten here previously. The food was really good. I don't know if I have ever had better mac and cheese! The ribs were good, the sides were also very good--and for the price, it was an excellent value.The service was excellent! It has the feel of a home-town kind of place. We were greeted upon entry and our server could not have been more kind. I believe her name was Angel H? She made the visit! We will definitely return.

Whether you like barbecue, burgers, or even a good salad(and do not flinch at the seeing of others eating meat), you can find a home at a Sonny's. Despite its partially misleading name, barbecue is not all they have here, though it is their main specialty.

My usual meal from here is a standard burger and fries, and whenever there was an issue(one time here I think), it was dealt with, no problems nor complaints as far as I recall.

Also, and while I may be a bit partial with this bit, the staff is great. Attentive and with great personalities, you will likely not have a negative experience. I cannot comment on speed too much though, as I was not sure on my order last time, and threw off my waitress' groove a bit.

I have also tried their baby back ribs before, and while I do not recall them being bad, I do not think they were too memorable, and if I recall, they were a bit too pricey to be worth it. Maybe I am wrong though, feel free to try and see.

Bottomline, great place, and highly recommended.

Great service and tasty BBQ. Today I had the sweet and smokey ribs with BBQ beans (which are the best for sure), sweet potato, and garlic bread which was all very good.The facility was clean and the server was very attentive which was nice. The bathroom could really use a renovation. However, even with all of these pros I always feel like I have a little buyers remorse when I get the bill. The prices here used to be much more in line with the surrounding restaurants. Now you really need to plan on spending $10 per person for lunch.
