Writing this review in celebration of Base Camp's One Year Anniversary! We love Marietta Local, so when Base Camp opened, we were over the moon to have another eatery from Jim and his team. Food is delicious, service is great, and we heathens really appreciate that it's open on Sunday mornings. ;-)
I love that I can go all in and get down with some biscuits and southern fried whatever or be a good girl with a smoothie and a scrambled egg. The buffalo tots are the best!
The line to order can get long, so be nice - study the menu and decide what to order BEFORE you get up to the register.
Congrats, Base Camp! Hope you're around for a good long while.
Amazing food, especially the fried chicken. However, you have to wait in a single line to place order before you can sit and wait for your food and the line was about 15 minutes long on a Saturday morning. It would be much better if they just serve you at a table like a normal restaurant. But, five stars for excellent food and great service by servers who frequently checked on us despite the heavy volume.
Definitely worth the wait for food here!! Homemade food at its best!! Best breakfast/brunch place I've been to. Line to get ordered/seated was about 20-30 minutes long but went fairly quickly. Revisiting soon!! ????????
My first experience upon entering the place was that the guy working the cafe area kept weaving in and out of the queue waiting to get into the seating area and said excuse me from behind, then proceeded to shove me when I didn’t move quickly enough. It was probably more clumsiness than intent on his part, but I wanted to clobber the guy. I felt like I was in a group of cattle being herded to get in there, but that is the business model at the Local as well. You kind of tolerate it for the food quality. Anyway, the catfish wasn’t as fantastic as the last reviewer on Yelp touted, it was sort of okay. The sauce on top of it kind of looked like baby vomit, so the management might want to consider putting that on the side. Fortunately, it didn’t taste like baby vomit. It wasn’t bad, but honestly I have had better catfish from the hot bar at Whole Foods. It is not worth fifteen dollars and braving the crowd to get in.
Really cute place. Beautiful in space. Can be really really busy at the checkout line. It'd be nice if they had a few more vegan and vegetarian options. Soy milk, almond milk, vegetarian protein. It's in a progressive location where a lot of Fitness enthusiasts will go. I had the lemon pancakes. They were really good.
