The American

Nice place in historic atmosphere. Food was good with a good variety on lunch menu. Fresh food, with unique options.. Service was good even when busy. Wife like dinner menu better, so will have to go back to try that.

My wife and I are in town from Florida for a wedding and was wondering around town stopping in little shops and the history museum and decided to have a late lunch at the American. We had a great wait person named Kendell that made sure we had everything we needed. We are an older couple and we split the Tomato Pie and the Prime Rib French Dip. Instead of us splitting the sandwich, Kendell had the sandwich and fries split for us on our own plate along with our own individual ketchup cups. The food was good and we loved the place and will go back again when we come back to town.

Our #1 spot for when we want to impress out of town friends and family. We drive from Tallahassee to experience the atmosphere, impeccable service, and southern charm of The American. As a business owner, I know the hard work and dedication it takes to pull off a great customer experience. Heather, Tyler, and the whole staff make you feel like family with every visit.

The American is a gem. Dishes are expertly prepared using fresh, seasonal, locally-grown produce and meats, and the quality and natural flavor of those ingredients are allowed to shine. You don't just taste the delicious layers of flavor, but you can actually feel that the food is more nutritious than standard restaurant fare. I could go on in great detail about the food, but possibly the best feature of The American is the hospitality of the owners and staff. The team at The American provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, and they treat their guests with refreshing kindness and generosity.

This is a treasure. Well worth the drive from Tallahassee. Great quality food with home town service.

Back again this place just gets better. Fantastic service and amazing food.
