Northern China Eatery

It is a small chinese restaurant with limited seating capacity (approximately 40 to 45 people, at a time). I read it's extremely good reviews and went there to experience the authentic cuisine and hospitality that reviewers had expressed in detail. I found that, the servers are exceptionally good and tried to understand our lack of expertise in using chopsticks and provided us with spoons and fork to relish the awesome dishes that we ordered. I gave 4 stars as I didn't find the washroom quite clean, though it was not smelly.

Today's post is about @northernchinaeatery the perhaps literal hole in the wall located on the side of the building across the road from sweet hut.

The claim to fame about Northern China eatery is that Anthony Bourdain visited here and obviously enjoyed it. As expected this restaurant has some absolutely nuts dishes.

My favorite from dinner the night we went was the spicy griddle cooked fish -breakdown on why below:
1. Consistency: this fish must be twice cooked because it is so crispy. Biting into this is just awesome because the outside layer is so crisp and the fish inside isn't tough
2. Flavor: wow this fish was delicious, spicy but not overwhelming just an all around great taste
3. Veggies: those of you who have eaten with me know I'm a baby and don't like veggies but these are delicious. They're lightly fried and especially enjoyed the lotus and carrots in there
Bonus - size of the dish, it comes in a large disposable aluminum tray, no frills just giant portions

Northern China Eatery is known for their dumplings and pot stickers but don't come here and not get this dish. We ate maybe 4-5 other dishes it came last and we thought we were full but we still finished the whole thing 😂😂

Loved it! The soup dumplings were very tasty. And the handmade noodles were delicious. Enjoyed our food and service. Took home lots of frozen dumplings too!

It was a very cozy and clean environment that served very delicious food! I had the lamb soup which I really enjoyed! My Husband had the Mandarin pie, with pot stickers. If I had to complain the one thing would be my server was very anxious to take our order. Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing. Only sad we didn't know to bring a cooler buy them frozen to take home. The dumplings are wonderful. We got the soup and the pan fried. Will definitely be back when we are in the area.
