Matthews Cafeteria

Well run cafeteria style place. About the only breakfast place other than fast food in this area. Reasonable prices. Seems popular with locals.

Excellent place for good down home cooking! I had the fried pork chop with green beans and candied yams, and it was great! And their pecan pie will melt in your mouth!!

Matthews is our go to place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ask my husband which one he likes more, ihop or Matthews. He said Matthews, why? It’s because you can choose whatever you want on your plate instead of just going based off the menu. Everybody is friendly here. Most of them are Hispanic ladies who is actually amazing to see. You don’t see this unless you going to a Hispanic restaurant. I love seeing my husband be able to order his food in Spanish since it was his first language and it makes the ladies happy knowing they can talk to them in their native language. I don’t know how much English they know but they can take your order like champs. I want my son to grow up knowing this place and telling his friends and family that he grew up eating something like this and not McDonald’s.

Food was good, almost great. Not seasoned enough. Portion sizes were good. Service was fast. (Walk down line and point). We paid about $10 each. Everything priced separate. Average $3 for a meat (baked fish $4.50). Vegetables $2 each. Beverage $2.50. Prices may be more or less. Our bill was $33 for 3 people.

If you're in Tucker this is a must-go kinda place for lunch. It gets very busy so be mindful of getting there early to secure a parking space. The food is fantastic and the service is super friendly. Prices are more than reasonable. You're sure to leave well fed and smiling!
